The Producer's job can be roughly summarized into three things: get people to be in the show, get people to watch the show, and get people something to remember the show by. The good news is that many tasks can (and should) be easily delegated to other people!
The first category includes copious advertising for auditions, getting wranglers to help run the auditions, getting audition forms and scripts printed, and finding cameos and making sure they know their part.
The second category is definitely the most work. It includes getting a poster design and getting posters printed, putting up the posters, sending out FASS info to every conceivable outlet (including Imprint, other newspapers, the Daily Bulletin, doing presentations in classrooms, etc), convincing cast and crew members to sell tickets (possibly through a ticket sales contest), and making the programs.
The third part is the most fun! This includes getting a t-shirt design (often the same as the poster) and getting t-shirts made, selling said t-shirts, making showbooks and DVDs (or finding someone to do so), selling both at the AGM, and of course taking orders for all these things beforehand.
It is definitely a lot of work but it is also very rewarding to see a great cast and a wonderful audience come out, or see people wearing their FASS shirts with pride. Yay producing!
