Handbook - About FASS

The FASS Theatre Company is serious about having fun -- we're a live cartoon on stage! We've been entertaining Kitchener-Waterloo with variety and musical comedy since 1962, making us UW's longest-operating amateur theatre group. Most of the fun occurs in January when over 100 cast and crew rehearse and prepare the show just in time for February. We do have other social events all year round!

FASS stands for Faculty, Alumni, Staff and Students. We welcome anyone and everyone. Each year we see new friendships created and old ones renewed. If we're not too busy laughing at ourselves in rehearsals, trading jokes at writers meetings or sharing donuts backstage, you'll probably find us going out to a movie or throwing a famous FASS Party!

About this handbook

This FASS Member Handbook attempts to answer questions that people new to FASS might have. While the general structure of FASS stays pretty much the same from year to year, things like dates, times, and locations change. You should always check the calendar and announcements pages for the most up-to-date list of date, times, and locations.

Who to contact

If you have general questions about FASS, you can contact the President. If you aren't going to be able to make a rehearsal or have a rehearsal-related question, contact the Stage Manager.

FASS has a number of mailing lists that we use to keep in touch with members of the company. There's the FASSmod mailing list, which is moderated, so you only receive official messages from FASS, usually not more than one or two per month. There's also the FASSopen mailing list, which is open, so anyone on the mailing list can send messages to it. If you're in the show, you'll also be added to a mailing list for that show, so we can keep you up to date on rehearsal and production information. For more information about mailing lists, see the Contacts page.
