My thanks to everyone who was able to make it out to the Fall Organizational Meeting (FOM) last night. I was pleased that we saw a number of new and old faces.
If you're new to the group, feel free to e-mail any questions to me and I'll do my best to get you an answer. That goes both for people who were able to come last night and for those who missed the event.
That said, I have the following announcements to make:
Applications are open for the positions of Technical Director and Stage Manager for this year's show. Here are the details for the positions:
Tech Director (TD):
The TD is responsible for making sure that all the following are done properly and safely: sets, props, costumes, makeup, lighting, sound, special effects, cost control (staying within budget), feasibility and creative review. Of course, this all can't be done by one person. The TD doesn't even have to know how to do all these things. A crew of techies is required. So really, the TD has to be able to wrangle a bunch of people who DO have these skills. Delegation and organization is what is needed most in a good TD.
Stage Manager (SM):
The Stage Manager works closely with the Director and Tech Director to bring the show together. Specific duties include attending rehearsals to take line and blocking notes, keeping track of all the actors, managing and choosing Assistant Stage Managers, calling the actual show and many other duties. It's a lot of work and a lot of fun.
If you're interested, please e-mail me to set up an interview. The only requirement for both positions is a desire to commit the entire month of January to the show. No prior experience is required (it's good to know how a stage production works, but we won't hold it against you if you don't).We may still have unclaimed showbooks and DVDs. If you have not yet received your DVDs from last year, e-mail Rob LeGood. For showbooks, e-mail Jennifer Murray.
Later this fall, we're going to hold a new, official FASS event to get everyone, new and old, into the swing of things before January. I have no idea what it will be. It might be a party, an on-campus event, or maybe both. It'll be something fun that everyone can participate in. We'll give you lots of lead time on the fall event, and I hope to see you all there.
Cheers!

Are you anxious to see "those FASS people" again? You know...the ones you hang out with during January and rarely talk to through the rest of the year while you're getting on with your life?Yeah, me neither. Especially that Russ Wong guy. He's annoying and loud and sends a never-ending stream of long and boring e-mails to my inbox that I can't be bothered to read. Seriously. I. Never. Read. Them. He just thinks he's so funny and he's really not.
Still, you should come join us at the Fall Organizational Meeting on September 21st (that's next Tuesday). Sorry for the short notice, but we like to have it right after FEDS Club Days (which snuck up on us due to the fall term starting really late). It'll be fun. I think. I can't say for sure, seeing as I've only been to one, and it was quite by accident (I happened to be walking by and recognized some people). We'll introduce the committee members, make fun of the ones who aren't there, tell new people how to get involved, socialize for awhile, and then watch the video outtakes from last year (and the entire video if people want to).
Anyways, here are the vitals:

Ahh, it's that time of year again. Fall term is getting underway, kids are back in school, leaves are starting to change - and the Superhero script needs writers! Fall writers meetings start tomorrow night (September 13 - I know, it's the middle of September already... crazy, ain't it?). Meetings will be every Monday and Thursday from 7-9 pm in HH 373 until the script is done. Or Christmas break. Which ever comes first. If you're nervous about actually writing, don't worry, we need idea people, editors, song writers, and people just to laugh at our stuff and tell us how wonderful we are. You don't have to be able to make both the Monday and Thursday meetings to be on the writing team, and if you have a scheduling conflict but would still like to help, let me know and we'll see what we can do. And yes, there will be Timbits.
