Weekend rehearsals are the main rehearsals for singing and dancing for the Opening and Closing numbers. If you want to be in the the Opening or Closing numbers you need to be available either both Saturdays (Jan. 18th and 25th) or both Sundays (Jan. 19th and 26th).
The tech crew will also be working during weekend rehearsals. This will be the time to create props, sets, paint backdrops, hang lights, and all the other technical tasks that need to be done.
Weekend rehearsals generally run on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm during the first and second weeks of rehearsals, but check the schedule to make sure. There will be an hour break for lunch from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
Weekend rehearsals are held in Hagey Hall. Singing and dancing practice will take place either in a classroom in Hagey Hall (usually HH 280, but check the calendar to be sure) or on the stage of the Humanities Theatre. Tech construction will take place in the tech shop (which is located at stage left) of the Humanities Theatre.
We'd really like you to, because the numbers will look better the more people we have in them, and it's a lot of fun. The rehearsals on the weekend are also the best time to get to know everyone in the cast. If you really are not free on both Saturdays or both Sundays, then you won't be able to be in opening or closing but you can still take part in the rest of the show and just help with tech for your weekend committment.
For singing and dancing rehearsals, you should bring water, comfortable clothing that will be flexible during dancing, and clean indoor shoes (not the ones you wore outside) or you will have to dance in your socks. Since you will be moving around a lot in an enclosed area, please take care of your hygiene (showering, deodorant) for the comfort of everyone in the company.
For working in the tech shop you will need to have clean indoor shoes (not the ones your wore outside) that are closed toed.
There will be a party on each Saturday night during rehearsals. Check the announcements for more time and location.
